Life’s like a Chicken Kebab!

Apologies to Forest Gump for the title of this post!

Yesterday I went to town with a long list of jobs to do. I had almost finished the list when the “hungrys” hit me. Fortunately I was parked near my favourite Turkish Kebab shop. I walked into the shop and promptly placed my order: “One chicken kebab with BBQ sauce please”.

I collected my kebab one minute later from an ex student. I had taught K. about 10 years ago at a previous school. I remember him as a friendly lad with a zest for life. He asked me if I was still teaching. So we starting chatting. As I said goodbye, K. said: “Bye Mr. T, you know you were the best Maths teacher I had!”

With a tear in my eye, I reflected on why I love teaching. What a privilege to make a difference in a teenager’s life.

So sometimes life is like a chicken kebab; satisfying and worthwhile.

It is a very special day when you realize you have been able to make a difference in someones life even if it is only in a small way 🙂
