Spring has Sprung

My Grandfather seemed to have an endless repertoire of poetry to recite. Some were intricate and beautiful, other simple and frivolous, like this one:

The Spring has sprung,

The grass has ris,

I wonder where the birdies is?

The 1st of September is finally here. I am excited! Not only is it the first day of Spring and the end of a dreary wet winter in the southern hemisphere, but my favourite Maths website – nRich – has a new set of problems/activities to try.

I particularly liked their Making Rectangles activity.

It is a rich task that includes teamwork, problem solving, area and number sense.

It also provides me with another use for my store of photo board that I posted about here. With father’s day coming up this Sunday, perhaps my daughter will replenish my stock of board. That would be a great gift for a teacher!!!
