100Here is a simple 2 player game. It is an easy way for a teacher to observe if students can see patterns, and then develop a winning strategy.

You start at zero. In turn you and your partner choose a number from 1 to 10. The number chosen is added to the running total.

The person who gets the CENTURY (Total = 100) WINS !!!

Here is a sample game:

Jord 6 (6), Beth 10 (16), Jord 9 (25), Beth 8 (33), Jord 7 (40), Beth 10 (50), Jord 7 (57), Beth 9 (66), Jord 10 (76), Beth 1 (77), Jord 10 (87), Beth 2 (89), Jord 1 (90), Beth 10 (100) – BETH WINS !!!

An alternative – whoever gets to 100 loses. How does this change strategy?
