Social Learning Networks and Mathematics

A new world has started to open up to me on the www. Namely social networking. Linking up with mathematics educators from all over the world has changed the way I do my Professional Development.

I have recently joined “Twitter” and downloaded a “Tweetdeck” and now I am in contact with an expanding network of teachers daily. If I want advice from my colleagues, an answer is usually only seconds away.

I have also joined an excellent social network of maths teachers called “Mathematics 24×7“.

24x7

Some of the current discussion topics are:

1. Free Maths Software

2. Useful Maths Blogs

3. Social Mathematics – Where?

What are your experiences with social networking?

About webmaths

I have been teaching Mathematics in Victorian secondary schools for 30 years. I use the www to make my maths lessons better. I hope this blog will give other teachers some ideas to try in their own classes.
