Collecting news articles pertaining to Mathematics is well worth doing. It can add an interesting, real world aspect to your curriculum. I have a display folder of news cuttings I have collected over the years. Over the next months I will scan and publish some of these on this blog.

The main types of news articles usually pertain to probability, statistics, graphs and money. Here is a light hearted example that appeared in the Herald Sun, Sep 23, 2010, page 16:

Kerry Cue, journalist, Maths teacher and public speaker extraordinaire; has lots of examples of Maths in the News on her excellent Mathspig blog.
